Aquinas Rolls Past Rochester in 3-0 Sweep

Saints hit .336 with 46 kills in the team's seventh sweep of the year

The Aquinas women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 victory on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 26) in the Sturrus Center, as the Saints topped visiting Rochester by straight set scores of 25-15, 25-18, and 25-21. AQ notched 46 kills and hit .336 in the win, moving to 9-6 in WHAC play this season.

Aquinas improves to 8-5 at home and tallies its seventh sweep of the year, including the second 3-0 win over Rochester. The Saints even their overall record at 12-12 and are in fifth place in the conference standings, just one game out of fourth. Rochester drops to 2-23 on the year and 1-14 in league play.

The AQ offense was in high gear all match, hitting .306 in the first set and .455 (18 kills, three errors) in set two. Overall, the Saints hit .336, while limiting Rochester to a .038 attack mark. Aquinas recorded a 46-26 advantage in kills and edges in assists (44-26) and blocks (6-3). The Warriors held a 6-1 margin in aces, while each team collected 49 digs.

Maddie Ingraham posted a match-best 15 kills and hit .429 on her 28 swings, while adding a pair of blocks. Kenzie Sanders delivered eight kills and a .304 hitting percentage, in addition to four block assists and three digs. Kylie Christensen tallied seven kills on 11 swings without an error for a .636 hitting percentage in two sets.

Emily Jones collected a match-best five block assists, three digs, and a kill, while Jackie Rozell added five kills and Ally Blackford recorded four kills.

Haylee Hill notched a double-double of 26 assists and 12 digs, along with AQ's lone service ace. Karly Morris secured 12 digs and five assists, while Kali Crawford passed for 11 assists in her only set on the floor.

The Saints stay at home next Wednesday (Oct. 30) for a 7:00 p.m. match against Concordia. AQ swept the Cardinals on Sept. 25 in Ann Arbor.
