The women's hockey team took Robert Morris (ILL) to overtime on Saturday afternoon, but came up just short, falling to the Eagles 3-2. The Saints are now 3-11 on the season and 1-6 in CCWHA play.
With a quick turnaround after a 9-1 loss on Friday night, the Saints responded well on Saturday. The two teams played a scoreless first-period, and RMU struck first with a power-play early in the second-period. The Saints quickly countered, scoring just over two minutes later to tie the game at 1-1. Once again it was freshman
Madison Morgrette lighting the lamp, her second goal in as many games. Morgrette's goal was unassisted.
RMU took the lead again with just under five minutes to go in the second, but once again the Saints quickly answered. With just over a minute to go in the period, Morgrette again beat the Eagles goaltender to tie the game.
Natalie Vaitas had the assist on Morgrette's fourth goal of the season and third in less than 24 hours.
After the high-scoring second-period, the Saints and Eagles played another scoreless period in the third, taking the game to overtime to decide the outcome. Unfortunately for the Saints, the extra period did not last long, as RMU scored 10 seconds in to take the game and sweep the weekend series.
Goaltender
