Esports Program Adds Top Super Smash Player

Esports head coach Adam Antor has announced the addition of Grand Rapids native Savon Riley to the Saints' Esports program starting in January 2020. Riley currently attends Grand Rapids Community College and will join the Saints to play Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Riley has been competing in Super Smash Bros Ultimate for four years and has numerous tournament wins.

Said Coach Adam Antor, "I am beyond thrilled to have Savon joining the Aquinas Esports Program next semester. Savon, more commonly known by his screen name 'BooBear' is currently the best Super Smash Bros Ultimate player in West Michigan and is ranked 3rd in the state of Michigan. This isn't just among college students, this is among all players in the entire state. Having Savon join our program makes Aquinas one of the most competitive collegiate Smash teams in our region, maybe in the entire country."

Asked why he chose to continue his academic and Esports career at Aquinas College, Riley said, "to finally fulfill my dreams and career. Aquinas gave me an opportunity I don't intend to take it for granted." He will study Psychology at Aquinas College.
