Women's Soccer Rolls Huntington 5-0

The women's soccer team won its second-straight match in impressive fashion, once again recording a shutout with a 5-0 win over visiting Huntington. The Saints are now 3-1 on the season and will host Mt. Vernon Nazarene tomorrow at 5:00 pm.

Aquinas was strong throughout the game, holding possession for a majority of the game once again, and outshooting their guests 26-4 on the day. Only one Forester shot made it on target in the game. The shutout victory was the second-straight for the Saints, who currently are the owners of a 208 minute shutout streak. Goalkeepers Braeleigh McCoy and Maddi Vick combined for the shutout, with McCoy controlling the first 72 minutes plus and Vick making a save in her 17 plus minutes of action.

Olivia Borgdorff opened the scoring for the Saints, corralling a loose ball off of a poor clearance by a Forester defender and slotting it home past the Huntington goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead. Just three minutes later, the Saints made it 2-0 when Raegan Radaz found the back of the net for the first time this season. Hannah Crum beat her defender up the left side and her ball found Radaz who calmly put it home. The lead would quickly balloon to 3-0 when Borgdorff scored her second of the game after converting a penalty-kick attempt. Three goals in less than five minutes sealed the deal and put the game away for the Saints before the half.

Aquinas wasn't done getting on the scoreboard however, as Crum would score her second goal of the season in the 76th minute after getting on the end of a ball from Maddie Grzybek and tapping it in at the far post. The Saints would find the back of the net one more time, this time after a beautiful strike from Macy Hollingsworth from outside of the box. The freshman blasted a shot just under the crossbar and over the outstretched arms of the Forester keeper. Jenna Konwerski assisted on the play.

The Saints host Mt. Vernon Nazarene in a showdown at the AQ Athletic Field tomorrow at 5:00 pm. You can watch live on the AQ Sports Network.
