The women's hockey team lost a hard-fought game to the University of Michigan on Sunday by a final of 3-0. The loss drops the Saints' record to 6-20 on the season and 1-11 in CCWHA play.
Prior to the game, the Saints honored four AQ seniors for their time and effort given to the AQ women's hockey program. Manager
Makhaila Dudley, defenseman
Gabby Fournier, defenseman
Maria Maguire and forward
Ashley Reese, along with their families were celebrated at center-ice for their impressive careers as Aquinas Saints.
For the second-straight game, the Saints defense held the Wolverines off the board for nearly 30 minutes to start the game. The Wolverines took a 1-0 lead midway through the second, and the Saints remained within one heading into the third period. Unfortunately, the Saints were unable to solve the Wolverines goaltender Erin Andrews, who made 28 saves on the day. A pair of goals by the Wolverines in a minute span with just over five minutes remaining pulled the game out of reach and saw the Saints fall on the wrong side of a 3-0 final score.
Saints' goaltender
Ally Kennedy was tremendous in net, making 54 saves on the day. Aquinas finish the regular season with a home and home with Adrian next weekend, hosting the Bulldogs on Friday night at 9:00 pm at Southside Ice Arena.
