Head coach
Lisa Brown-Miller and the women's hockey program have announced the signing of Bridget Metz, who recently signed her Letter of Intent to join the Saints' program next fall.
Metz hails from Shelby Township, Michigan, and attends Notre Dame Preparatory school. She has played hockey for seven years, including time with Michigan Travelers (1 year), Macomb Monarchs (1 year), Saint Clair Shores Saints (5 years; current team). Metz has been a member of many different successful teams during this time, including State Runner-ups (2015), South Bend Cup Champions (2016), Big Bear Cup Champions (2019), and Three Rivers Cup Champions (2020).
Individually, Metz has earned the Heart Award (team MVP from the parents) and Hustle Award (team MVP from the players) from her Saint Clair Shores Saints team over the past two seasons, and has also earned individual Tournament MVP honors and hat-trick and playmaker awards. She has also been the high goal and point--scorer on her defensive lines the past two seasons.Â
"I'm thrilled that Bridget has decided to join the Saints next season!" said head coach
Lisa Brown-Miller. "She comes with a wealth of playing experience and will immediately strengthen our defensive corps. Her commanding on-ice presence, composure under pressure, and overall vision of the ice will help elevate this program to the next level. I'm excited about the direction of this team and know she will play a significant role."
"I chose Aquinas because of the small school feel, academic opportunities, and strong female hockey program," said Metz. "I researched my major (Psychology) and felt Aquinas offered a strong program. I felt welcomed by everyone I met on campus and the women's hockey team including Coach Brown-Miller. She has been fundamental in helping me choose a school where I feel at home. Her deep background in women's hockey and her passion for the sport I love has convinced me that she will help push me to further perfect my playing ability. I was looking for a college where I could be myself, further my education, and continue my hockey career and Aquinas offered all three options and more."Â
