Four different Saints score as Merin McDermott nets the game winning goal in 4-1 win over the Warriors

The #13 Aquinas women's soccer team were able to extend its winning streak to four with the win over Indiana Tech on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 2). Traveling to the Warrior Athletic Field, the Saints used two goals in both the first and second halves to claim the victory over the Warriors 4-1.

Aquinas' overall record improves to 9-1 on the season with a perfect 6-0 road record plus a 3-0 WHAC record, while Indiana Tech's record now stands at 5-5 overall and 1-2 in the WHAC.

For the second straight game, Hannah Crum netted AQ's first goal with this one coming in the 12th minute. Jenna Konwerski sent a cross into the box as Crum was able to get her head on the ball to score her team leading eighth goal of the season. The advantage grew to two goals as Merin McDermott scored the eventual game winner sent another header into the net off a corner kick from Crum. This was McDermott's fourth goal of the season and second game winning goal. The Saints were able to take the comfortable 2-0 lead into the break after outshooting the Warriors 15-1 through 45 minutes.

Aquinas was able to make the lead 3-0 in the 72nd minute with Sydney Shenk netting her seventh goal of the year. The rare double assist came from America Lemus and Laia Cunill as Shenk hit the one timer past the goalkeeper. The Warriors were able to get one back in the 81st minute as Kate Wallace made the score read 3-1. Less than five minutes later Ariana Garcia gave the Saints the three goal cushion back and scored the final goal after striking the unassisted shot into the top right corner for her fourth goal of the season.

Tairyn Webb (7-1) collected her fourth straight win in net after making one save and allowing one goal. Michaela Bitle took the loss in net for IT after making six saves and allowing four goals.
