The Saints women's hockey team traveled to Lebanon, Illinois this afternoon (Oct. 22) to take on the McKendree Bearcats. The puck dropped at 4:30 PM and the Bearcats jumped out to an early lead, scoring two goals in the first eight minutes of the game. Aquinas scored early in the second period, bringing the game back to 2-1. However, McKendree answered quickly, scoring two more goals in the next ten minutes of the match, increasing their lead to 4-1.
McKendree scored one more time at 18:00 in the third period for a commanding 5-1 lead. Aquinas wasn't able to close on that lead, with the game ending with a final score of 5-1.
Morgan Kozar scored the lone unassisted goal for the Saints with 19:01 in the second period.
Ashley Suske was in net for Aquinas, picking up 37 saves on 42 shots on target for a 88.1% save percentage.
The Saints were outshot by the Bearcats by a margin of 42-12.
AQ will be back on the ice tomorrow (Oct. 23) in St. Louis, MO to take on Maryville.
