The Saints men's hockey team geared up at Southside Ice Arena yesterday (Oct. 22) to play the first game of the series against the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils . Aquinas was locked in an intense battle against Lawrence Tech, but ended up dropping the first game to the Blue Devils in the series.
The Blue Devils were the first team to strike when they found the back of the net at 2:46 of the first period during a power play. The two teams were then in a gridlock throughout the second period after intense back and forth action.
During the third period, Lawrence Tech scored again at 16:55 putting the Blue Devils up 2-0. The Saints lone goal came during a power play in the third. Junior forward,
Darren Johnson scored when he was assisted by
Nick Long and
Mason Stewart at 11:40.
The Saints had 23 shots on goal compared to Lawrence Tech's 17.
AQ is back in action tonight (Oct. 23) for its second game against the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils. Aquinas will be away at Southside Ice Arena on October 22nd at 8:00 PM.
