Saints Open Series Against UM-Dearborn with 3-2 Win

Men put 27 shots on goal

The Saints men's hockey team geared up at Southside Ice Arena (Oct. 29) to play the first game of the series against the Michigan-Dearborn Wolverines. Aquinas saw three different Saints score in the game.

The Saints were the first team to strike tonight when Christian Look found the back of the net at 6:09 in the first period. Look was assisted by forwards Nick Long and Darren Johnson. Long continue dishing out assists when the Saints scored on a power play at 2:46 in the first. He, along with Greg McQuade, fed Mike Curran for the goal that put Aquinas up two to end the first period

Dearborn stuck quickly in the second period when they snuck the puck past Sophomore, Michael Allman at 19:21. Aquinas answered that goal when Danny Nelson assisted Danny Barry at 8:25 in the second. The Wolverines were able to score once more in the second period at 5:39 to send it to the third period with a score of 3-2. The third period didn't see any goals but saw both side put up impressive shot attempts with Aquinas putting up 11 and Michigan Dearborn putting up 8.

The Saints had 27 shots on goal compared to Michigan Dearborn's 20.

AQ is back in action Saturday, October 30, for its second game against the Michigan Dearborn Wolverines. Aquinas will be away at the UMD Campus Arena when they play the Wolverines. Puck drop is set for 7:00 PM
