The AQ women's hockey squad traveled to Griff's Georgetown in Hudsonville, Michigan last night (Oct. 29) for a road matchup against the Grand Valley State Lakers. The teams were evenly matched, as the score remained 0-0 through the second period. The match remained at a stalemate until the Lakers scored one at 10:42 in the third period to bring the score to 1-0.
That score would remain the same until the final horn, as GVSU's great defensive performance grabs them the first win in the series. This result brings the Saint's overall record to 2-4 and their conference record to 2-1.
Ashley Suske had a great game in the net for AQ, saving 30 of 31 shots for a 96.8% save percentage.
Samantha Schultz had a fantastic game for the Lakers, saving all 36 shots that AQ put on target throughout the three periods. Marlee Sprott scored the game winning goal for Grand Valley.
The Saints will be back in action tonight (Oct. 30) at Southside Ice Arena for their home matchup of the series.
