The #15 Aquinas men's hockey team was set for a huge WHAC matchup against the #10 Indiana Tech Warriors tonight (Nov. 12) at Southside Ice Arena. The first period started off with an exclamation points as
Augustus Hickle came in off the line change and recovered his own rebound for a goal to put Aquinas up 1-0 at 16:16.
The Saints had a scare later on in the first period, as Indiana Tech received a five on three opportunity with
Arthur Prukhitsky and
Russell Shengulette serving time in the box. However, Aquinas survived and killed off the five on three opportunity. The rest of the period played out with both sides getting just a couple of chances, resulting both teams entering the locker rooms with the score still at 1-0.

The second period continued to be a tight back-and-forth contest. Indiana Tech scored a goal from the center line at 16:58 to bring the score even a 1-1. Both teams killed off a powerplay later on in the period. At the conclusion of the period, Indiana Tech had 12 shots to AQ's 9. With the total shots being 20-19 in favor of Indiana Tech through two periods, both teams really limited the opportunities for the other in a defensive battle.
The third period did not go well for Aquinas. The Warriors scored two goals within the first three minutes of the period to bring the score to 3-1. Indiana Tech wasn't done scoring, adding another goal at 5:45 in the third. AQ was not able to answer, as the final score ended at 4-1 in favor of Indiana Tech. ITÂ outshot AQ by a total of 35 shots to 27.
Aquinas now sits at 8-3 with a 7-2 WHAC conference record.
Michael Allman started in net for Aquinas, saving 31 of 35 shots with a 88.6% save percentage.
Aquinas will be back on the ice tomorrow (Nov. 13) for a road matchup against Indiana Tech.
