The Aquinas women's basketball team drops a WHAC home game to Concordia on Sunday afternoon (Dec. 5) in Sturrus Center. The Cardinals outscored the Saints by 20 in the second half on their way to the 61-40 win.
AQ now has a record of 8-6 on the season with a 4-3 WHAC record, while CUAA improves to 5-5 overall and 3-3 in the conference.
The two teams battled in the first half as the Cardinals won the first quarter 14-12 and then the Saints turned around and outscored CUAA 12-11 in the second quarter. Concordia held a one-point advantage at halftime, leading 25-24. The Cardinals then used a huge second quarter to separate themselves from the Saints by scoring 22 points compared to AQ's nine. It did not get much better in the final quarter as CUAA ended up with a 21-point win.
Daz'Sha Day had the best game offensively for the Saints, scoring 10 points on 4-8 shooting, while also contributing three rebounds, assists, and steals a piece.
Mauriya Barnes had the second-most points for AQ coming off the bench at nine.
Marissa Brady led the team with six rebounds and also scored eight points.

The Saints shot 29.2% from the field and went 10-14 from the free throw line. Concordia connected on 36.1% of its field goals and made 7-26 three-point attempts, while also going 10-14 from the charity stripe. The Cardinals held a 48-29 rebounding advantage, while also holding an 11-9 lead in assists and steals.
Aquinas will hit the road for the final time before Christmas break, traveling to Gary, Indiana to play IU-Northwest in a non-conference match-up on Tuesday (Dec. 7), with tip-off scheduled for 8:00 PM.
