Aquinas junior point guard Jesse Hillis captured the WHAC Player of the Week award this afternoon (Feb. 15), announced by the league office. Hillis averaged nearly 18 points and eight assists per game to help AQ to a four-game winning streak last week.

The Saints won all four contests last week, though only the final three games counted towards the weekly award. In AQ's wins over Siena Heights, Lourdes, and Concordia, Hillis posted 17.7 points, 7.7 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game. He shot 55.6 percent from the field and went 10-of-11 from the free throw line on the week.

Hillis totaled 14 points, eight assists, and three steals in a 72-62 win over Siena Heights on Wednesday (Feb. 10). He followed up by nearly flirting with a triple-double, recording 21 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds in a 75-59 victory over Lourdes, which was previously unbeaten in the WHAC. All 21 of Hillis' points came in the second half of Saturday's (Feb. 13) victory.

He finished the week with 18 points and seven assists in the 80-64 win at Concordia on Sunday (Feb. 14). Hillis ranks second in the WHAC with 5.6 assists per game, to go along with his team-high 14.6 points per contest.
