The Aquinas women's basketball team traveled to Livonia, Michigan on Saturday (Feb. 6) to take on the Crusaders of Madonna in a WHAC contest. The Saints fell to Madonna by a score of 59-51 to move to 1-3 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

It was a defensive battle between the Saints and the Crusaders, as Aquinas shot 32.1% from the field while Madonna was held to a 33.8 percentage by AQ. The win advances Madonna to 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the WHAC.Â

The Crusaders outperformed the Saints in rebounds (50-39) and steals (12-8) while Aquinas led Madonna in blocks (6-2) and assists (9-6). Aquinas shot 55% from the charity stripe going 11-20, compared to Madonna's 70.6% (12-17). The Crusaders struggled from downtown as they went 3-18 from three, while Aquinas went 4-13 (30.8%).

The Saints were led by
Marissa Brady who had a team-high 14 points and racked up 18 rebounds, as she recorded her fourth double-double in four games. Brady also added four blocks and two steals for AQ.
Brighton Miller reached her season-high with 11 points, shooting 3-5 from the 3-point line, and tallied three rebounds.

Jaylynn Williams finished with seven points, going 3-6 from the floor.
Daz'Sha Day tallied five points for the Saints and added a pair of steals.
JaKarri Alven totaled six points on the afternoon.
Mauriya Barnes notched four points for the Saints and
Jordyn Wigg finished with two points and added three assists.Â

AQ is back in action tomorrow (Feb. 7) as the Saints travel to Lima, Ohio to take on the Racers of UNOH in another WHAC contest. Tip-off is set for 3:00 PM.
