The Aquinas men's basketball team put up 42 points in both halves and tallied four double-digit scorers in Sunday's (Feb. 7) road win over UNOH in Lima, Ohio. AQ took an 11-point lead to halftime and finished off the 84-64 victory with six players scoring at least six points each.

With the victory, Aquinas moves to 1-6 overall and 1-5 in WHAC play, while UNOH drops to 0-10 on the season and 0-8 in league action. It was the most points scored by AQ in a win since Dec. 21, 2019 when the Saints defeated Grace Christian, 88-72.

For the game, the Saints shot nearly 58 percent from the field and made 10-of-22 three-pointers. AQ held the Racers to 34.4 percent shooting and only 5-of-26 from long distance. The Saints won the battle in the paint (38-22) and held a slight 37-35 rebounding advantage.

Sammie Ryans led all scorers with a game-high 20 points, making 6-of-9 shots and 4-of-6 three-point tries. He was 4-for-4 at the charity stripe.
Deric Murray came off the bench and also shot 6-for-9 for 14 points.
Jesse Hillis filled up the stat sheet with 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting, eight rebounds, six assists, and five steals.

Trevor Ballard made three of his four shots (including a pair of triples) for 10 points in only 19 minutes.
Justin Lary added eight points and five rebounds, while
Gabe Overway chipped in six  points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots.

AQ got off to a fast start, racing out to a 22-4 lead less than seven minutes into the game. UNOH pulled within single digits by the seven-minute mark, but the Saints used a late Ryans layup to take a 42-31 advantage to halftime.Â

Two free throws from Ryans in the second half and an Overway layup gave Aquinas a 20-point cushion (51-31) with 16:54 remaining. AQ would lead by at least 14 points the rest of the game.

The Saints return home for a Wednesday (Feb. 10) game against Siena Heights. Tip off from the Sturrus Center is set for 7:30 p.m.
