The Aquinas women's hockey team faced Adrian College on Sunday (Feb. 7) in a rescheduled game from Friday (Feb. 5). Sunday's game was a defensive battle, with the game ending in a 1-1 draw.
The Saints move to 1-0-1 after yesterday's 6-2 win against Adrian. The Bulldogs are now 2-1-1 overall.
With a quick turnaround from yesterday's game (Feb. 6), the two teams remained scoreless after the first period on Sunday. Both teams each recorded 13 shots on goal.
Aquinas netted the first goal at 11:20 in the second period by junior
Alyssa Buzar to go up on the Bulldogs (1-0). The goal was assisted by
Natalie Vaitas. The Bulldogs quickly responded, scoring a goal at 10:24 in the second to tie the game (1-1).
The Saints and the Bulldogs remained goalless in the third, forcing the game to overtime. At the end of regulation, Adrian edged out Aquinas in shots on goal (37-36). After a five-minute battle in overtime, the contest still remained in a standstill, finishing in a tie.
Goaltender
Ally Kennedy was strong in the net for AQ, making 41 saves on 42 shots faced.
AQ is back in action on Friday, February 12th as the Saints host Roosevelt University at Southside Ice Arena in a non-conference showdown. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
