AQ Women’s Lacrosse Adds Shaylin Rings to Program

The Aquinas women's lacrosse team and head coach Angelica Gero are excited to announce the addition of Shaylin Rings to the Saints program. From nearby Comstock Park, Rings will begin her AQ career in the fall of 2021 and prepare for the 2022 spring season.

Rings prepped at Comstock Park High School, where she was a First Team All-Conference selection in 2018-2019, when she also won the coaches award. She was also chosen as the MaxPreps.com player of the game during her high school career. Rings has a three-year varsity letterwinner and played there years of club lacrosse for MI Elite.

"Shaylin is going to bring some great skill and hustle to our midfield," Gero mentioned. "I've had the pleasure of getting to know Shay through the recruiting process over the last couple years, and her work ethic and passion for the sport are the first things that I saw in her. Those things have shown no signs of slowing down and she is going to flourish here at AQ!"

Rings has competed in four years of basketball at Comstock Park (including a pair of years on the varsity team), two years of track & field, and two years of JV volleyball. She is a member of the 2020-21 National Honors Society, is an academic honor roll recipient, and earned an outstanding student award. In 2019-20, she finished in third place at the Michigan HOSA Regional Leadership Conference and was named to the OK Conference Student-Athlete Leadership Summit in 2018-19.

Planning to major in biology, Rings said of her decision to come to AQ, "I chose Aquinas because it gives me the opportunity to play the sport I love which is lacrosse and it also allows me to explore the amazing science programs that this college had to offer".
