The Aquinas men's soccer team suffered defeat for the first time in 2021, as the Saints fell to visiting #18 Indiana Tech on Saturday afternoon (Mar. 13) at the AQ Athletic Field. In a battle of unbeaten teams, the top-20 Warriors took a 3-0 halftime lead and finished the game with a 5-0 final score.
With the result, AQ drops to 4-1 on the season and 3-1 in WHAC play. Indiana Tech remains undefeated at 10-0 on the year and 6-0 in conference action.
Aquinas had conceded only two goals in the season's first four games, but Indiana Tech struck for three goals in the first half on Saturday. The Warriors scored in the 23rd, 26th, and 38th minutes to take the 3-0 lead to halftime. Indiana Tech added two more goals in the second half for the game's only tallies.
The Warriors held a 17-9 edge in total shots, but only 10-7 advantage in shots on goal. AQ led 3-1 in corner kicks and committed 17 of the game's 27 fouls.
