The Aquinas women's hockey team closed out their three game weekend as the Saints traveled down the road to face Davenport on Sunday evening (Mar. 14). This is the Panthers and the Saints fourth and final meeting this season. Two first period goals for AQ earned the Saints the victory over Davenport for the fourth time and maintained their undefeated season record.
Within the first three minutes of the game, Aquinas was able to find the back of the net by freshman Olivia Menard (assisted by junior Alyssa Buzar).
Another goal for AQ came at the 10:13 in the first period, this time scored by senior Amelia Bartels and was assisted by another senior, Tori Feddema.
The Saints headed into the locker room after the first period with the 2-0 advantage. The second and third periods remained deadlocked as neither the Saints nor the Panthers could find the back of the net. With a 2-0 final, Davenport falls to a 1-5 overall record.
AQ outshot Davenport 35-13. Aquinas goalkeeper, Ally Kennedy, played the whole 60 and posted 13 saves and earned the shut out. The Saints improve to 10-0-1 overall and extend their win streak to nine.
Aquinas will take the ice again next weekend (Mar. 19th and 20th) for two huge matchups against Adrian to conclude the regular season. Puck drop on Friday is scheduled for 8:00 PM at Southside Ice Arena.
