AQ Women Dominate Rochester in Road Game, 7-0

The #18 Aquinas women's soccer team traveled to Pontiac, Michigan to face the Warriors in a big WHAC contest on Wednesday afternoon (Mar. 24). The Saints outperformed Rochester offensively, grabbing the huge 48-0 shot advantage. Aquinas earned the win by a 7-0 and improves to a 9-1 overall record, 7-0 WHAC.

The Saints started the game very strong, netting the first goal 2:30 into the first half by Ariana Garcia (assisted by Olympia Katsouridis). Aquinas remained on offense for the rest of the first half, but didn't score the next goal until the 33:40 mark (Filippa Struxsjo assisted by Marie-Louise Abild). AQ netted one more (Madison Mohr assisted by America Lemus) before heading into halftime with the 3-0 lead. 

Aquinas kept the momentum going, scoring three goals in the first 12 minutes of the second half (Garcia, Struxsjo, and Sydney Shenk). The Saints netted one more at the 86:49 mark (Hannah Bowling) to earn Aquinas the huge 7-0 victory. The loss drops Rochester to a 1-9 overall, 0-8 in conference play. 

AQ goalkeepers Braeleigh McCoy, Maddi Vick, and Tairyn Webb all played in today's contest. With 0 shots in the game for Rochester, no saves were recorded. Garcia and Struxsjo both led the Saints netting two goals each. Shenk finished with one goal and one assist.

Bowling, Mohr, and Shenk all finished with a goal a piece. Also posting assists were Emma Gray, Macy Hollingsworth, and Shelby Baxter. 

The Saints return to the field on Friday (Mar. 26) as Aquinas plays in another road contest at Concordia. The WHAC matchup is scheduled to start at 4:00 PM in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
