The #17 Aquinas women's soccer team hosted Lourdes for a WHAC Tournament quarterfinal game on Saturday afternoon (Apr. 3). The Saints and Gray Wolves battled in the first half as the teams went in at halftime scoreless at the AQ Athletic Field. A strong second half for Aquinas earned the Saints the big 3-0 win over the Gray Wolves and advanced AQ to the WHAC semifinals. 

After a scoreless first half of play, Aquinas started the second half proving themselves on the offensive end as Jenna Konwerski crossed into the box and Hannah Crum tapped it in for the first goal of the game. The goal was netted in the 46th minute, just 59 seconds into the second half. 

Crum kept the pressure on as she totaled five shots, four of them on goal. In the 56th minute, the WHAC Offensive Player of the Year had a shot deflected by the Lourdes goalie. Macy Hollingsworth slid into the box to gain possession off the deflection and put it into the top left of the net for the Saints' second goal.

In the 80th minute, a cross was sent into the box by Marie-Louise Abild. On the receiving end was Breanna Probst to head it in for her first goal of the season and AQ's third goal of the game. Aquinas finished off the quarterfinal win by a 3-0 score for its eight shutout of the season. 

The win improves the Saints to 12-1 overall and winners of 10 straight games. Lourdes closes the year 5-11 overall.

The Saints outshot the Gray Wolves 32-3, including a 16-0 mark in the decisive second half. Lourdes only tallied one shot on goal, as AQ totaled 18. Aquinas goalkeeper Braeleigh McCoy needed to make just one save for the win. 

Aquinas returns to the field on Wednesday (Apr. 7) as the Saints host the winner of #4 Cornerstone and #5 Concordia. The start of the big WHAC semifinal game is set for 7:00 PM.
