The Aquinas women's ice hockey team was back in action this weekend when they played the first game of two against the Adrian Bulldogs. After going down one in the first period, the Saints were unable to bounce back due to a surge in goals in the other two periods.
During the first period
Natalie Vaitas received a hooking and unsportsmanlike conduct at 10:52. This set up an Adrian goal at 9:32, to put the Saints down 1-0.
The Saints were unable to get a shot on goal in the first while the Bulldogs put up 14 shots.
In the second period the Saints were able to get more shots off than the first period with five. Despite this and the ladies staying out of the penalty box, the Saints weren't able to get on the board. With 17 shots on goal the Bulldogs scored three goals in the period. These goals happened at 2:31, 1:28, and :02.
The third period saw no change of pace as the bulldogs kept pouring it on with two more goals at 13:35 and :45.
On the day the Saints were outshot 40-9 on the day.
Aquinas will look for redemption when they play the bulldogs tomorrow at 4:00 PM in Adrian, Michigan.
