Hannah Crum Breaks AQ Career Goal Record, Saints Blank Cornerstone 4-0

The Saints celebrate Crum's historic achievement with a rivalry win

Grand Rapids, Mich. — Add a footnote to the record book as Hannah Crum is no longer just the Aquinas women's soccer record holder for the program's most career goals. With her 62nd career goal on Wednesday (Oct. 12) evening, Crum surpassed AQ men's soccer Hall of Famer Jeo Pantoja for the most goals ever scored at Aquinas. The historic feat was celebrated accordingly with the Saints shutting out their in-city rival Cornerstone, 4-0, in front of their home supporters at the AQ Athletic Field.

Aquinas improves to 10-2-1 overall (6-0 WHAC) with its seventh win in a row while Cornerstone drops to 5-5-2 overall (2-3-1 WHAC). The No. 15-ranked Saints are now unbeaten in their last 15 home matches.

Crum, in the 25th minute, volleyed in a cross from Macy Hollingsworth to score the record-breaking goal. That put the Saints up 2-0 after Hollingsworth also assisting the opening goal with a looping pass over a defender that unleashed Sydney Shenk. It was Shenk's fifth goal of the season, coming in the 10th minute.

The action quieted down from there as the Saints controlled a 2-0 lead for a majority of the match.

Then, in the 74th minute, Crum whipped in a corner kick cross that was punched into the net by the Cornerstone goalkeeper. It marks the third time this season that Aquinas has seen their opponent score an own goal.

Brittney Carter capped the scoring in the 87th minute on a rebound scramble in front of the net. Addison Tack headed the ball onto the frame of the goal and when that was saved, Carter was there to roof her shot into the top of the net for her second goal this season.

The Saints outshot the Golden Eagles 21-4 (9-2 shots on target). Freshman goalkeeper Kayla Shuk made both saves to pick up another clean sheet.

Aquinas returns to action this weekend with a noon kickoff Saturday (Oct. 15) against Lourdes at the AQ Athletic Field.
