#8 Warriors Net 8 Goals To Upend Saints

Penalty-filled contest slips away from #15 Aquinas

Fort Wayne, Ind. — Despite 11 goals being scored, even more penalties — 23 for 79 minutes — were called Friday night (10/21) in a heated battle between two Top-15 teams in the most recent ACHA rankings release. When the dust finally settled, No. 8 Indiana Tech (5-1) skated away with a 8-3 home victory over No. 15 Aquinas (4-3) at the SportONE Parkview Icehouse.

The first period, surprisingly, was played clean with no penalties called. Both teams scored twice. The Warriors lit the lamp first 35 seconds into the game. AQ's Danny Barry answered back three minutes later. The Saints took a 2-1 lead on a goal by Dylan Rumpke with 6:31 left in the period. Assists were credited to Barry and Arthus Prukhitsky. It took Indiana Tech 17 seconds to equalize on a goal by Malik Ali.

The Warriors broke the game open in the second period with three goals. Alex Arnold scored twice with Cole Barney getting the other. Early into the third period, Indiana Tech scored two more from TJ Dougan and Smith. Cam Chabot netted the Warriors' third power-play tally with under nine minutes remaining to give Indiana Tech a 8-2 lead.

Barry ended the scoring at 8-3 with his second goal of the game coming with 7:44 remaining. The assist went to Mason Stewart.

Indiana Tech outshot Aquinas 61-35.

The Saints will look to turn things around in the rematch on home ice Saturday night (10/22) against Indiana Tech at the Southside Ice Arena. Puck drop at 8 p.m.
