Saints Compete Against Western Michigan in Exhibition Game

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Aquinas women's basketball team faced of against NCAA Division I opponent Western Michigan on Thursday night (Nov. 3) in an exhibition match. The Broncos, taking the floor for the first time this season, defeated the Saints 81-49 at the University Arena. 

WMU jumped out to a 6-0 lead. Aquinas got within a point at 6-5, but the Broncos scored 11 out of the next 13 points and held a 17-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Broncos went on an 11-2 run to start the second period and took a 32-20 lead into the locker room at halftime.
 
Aquinas trimmed the margin to nine on multiple occasions early in the third quarter, but WMU used an 11-3 run to build its cushion back to 52-35. Western Michigan was up 54-37 heading into the final period. The Broncos outscored the Saints 27-12 in the final frame to push the final margin of victory out to 81-49.

No individual or team statistics were provided for the exhibition contest.

The Saints (1-0) return to the Sturrus Center in Grand Rapids, Mich., tomorrow evening (Nov. 4) with a 5:30 p.m. game against Great Lakes Christian.
