Adrian, Mich. — To say any conference game in the WHAC is not huge does the competition level a disservice, but some matchups and storylines are bigger than the game itself. Saturday afternoon in Adrian, Aquinas was set to battle Siena Heights, and while that alone carries weight, Valentine's Day 2026 delivered something even more emotional. With Siena Heights nearing the end of its final season before the school closes its doors, this marked the last-ever WHAC battle between the two Saints. Rivalry, history, pride — and finality — all packed into 40 minutes.
Aquinas 63, Siena Heights 62
Siena Heights struck first and built a six-point lead late in the opening quarter, but Aquinas answered behind Isabel Reemsnyder, who poured in eight early points to keep AQ within striking distance. The Saints trailed 19-15 after one but steadily worked their way back.
In the second quarter, Paige Guernsey and Rhema Dozier attacked the paint, while Emily Cline knocked down a key three-pointer to give AQ momentum. Aquinas outscored Siena Heights 16-12 in the period and went into the locker room tied 31-31.
The third quarter was a back-and-forth battle, featuring multiple lead changes. A triple from Reemsnyder and a clutch three from Hannah Gillette kept AQ within reach, and the teams entered the fourth quarter knotted at 45-45.
The final 10 minutes felt like everything this rivalry has represented. Jam Thigpen and Lauren DeWolf gave Siena Heights a small cushion early in the fourth, but Aquinas responded at the free-throw line. Reemsnyder was nearly automatic down the stretch, finishing 7-of-8 from the stripe and scoring nine fourth-quarter points.
With 36 seconds remaining, Reemsnyder calmly knocked down two free throws to give AQ a 61-58 advantage. Siena Heights answered with a layup from Kanyla Tyler to cut it to one possession. On the next trip, Reemsnyder again stepped to the line and split a pair, extending the lead to 63-60 with 11 seconds left.
Siena Heights pushed the ball and was fouled with two seconds remaining. Victoria Serrano Ortiz made the first two free throws to trim the margin to one. The third attempt missed, but Kanyla Tyler secured the offensive rebound in traffic and immediately launched a desperation jumper and...,
The shot was off.
And just like that, the final WHAC battle for the Saints moniker belonged to Aquinas.
Reemsnyder finished with a game-high 22 points and seven rebounds, while Guernsey added 15 points, five assists, and six rebounds. Aquinas shot 16-of-20 from the free-throw line and grabbed 40 total rebounds in a physical, possession-by-possession contest.
With the victory, Aquinas improves to 18-7 overall and 16-4 in WHAC play — and has now won eight straight conference games. In a league where every possession matters, that kind of run speaks volumes.

Coach's Comments
After the game, Head Coach Brian Morris reflected on his team's growth and the road ahead:
"This league tests you every single night. To win eight straight in this conference is incredibly difficult, and it says a lot about our resilience. We've grown in late-game situations, and today showed that. We executed at the free-throw line, we defended when it mattered, and we stayed composed in an emotional environment. That's maturity."
