The Aquinas cheer team competed on Wednesday morning (Feb. 23) in a virtual dual against Mobile (Ala.). Performing over a live stream in Sturrus Center, the Saints were awarded with their highest score of the season at 79.15 points which was 5.28 points higher than the mark received last week at the WHAC Championships.
On the other side, the Rams received a score of 89.10 to take the win in the dual. Both teams competed in the early hours of the morning as AQ started its routine at 8:20 AM and UMA competed afterwards.Â
The Saints received marks of 3.8 or higher in their execution scores across the stunts, pyramids, basket tosses, tumbling, and jumps categories. The choreograph and and showmanship points were all at an outstanding 8.5 or above between the two judges. This score bumps AQ up from 33rd in the NAIA on average scores up to 29th.
Aquinas will now wait and see if they will get an at-large bid to the NAIA National Championships, which take place in Ypsilanti, Michigan om March 11-12.
