The women's lacrosse team began conference play today as they did battle against the Pilots from Bethel University. The Saints are off to a good start in conference action after securing a 18-8 victory.
After today, the Saints move to 5-4 overall and 1-0 in WHAC Play.
Bethel took an early lead in the first quarter starting out with a score of 3-1, but the Saints came roaring back in quarter. At the end of the quarter, the Saints lead 7-3.
Trinity Reynoso scored three times,
Kennadie Minerich had two scores and
Cierra Davis and
Naomi Plant each had one.
In the second quarter, the Saints continued to pile on the scores with five more goals. Minerich had three goals in this period alone to bring her to five on the day.
Trinity Reynoso contributed another goal and
Shaylin Rings was able to find the back of the net.
In the second half the Saints would score six more times compared to Bethels four. Goals in this half came from
Cierra Davis,
Lauren Hansen,
Emma Bailey, and
Trinity Reynoso with two.
In the net, sophomore
Azariah Wells started the game for the Saints and recorded six saves in the first 26 and a half minutes.
Jordan Gardner then came had four saves.
In shots AQ recorded 29 to Bethel's 20. Aquinas went 17-17 on clears and had 24 ground balls in the contest.
The Saints will back in action on Wednesday when they host Indiana Tech at home. Game time is 5:00 PM.
