The women's lacrosse team continue conference play today as they did battle against the Cougars from Cleary University. The Saints are now tied for first in the conference with Lawrence Tech with a 4-0 conference record.
After today, the Saints move to 8-4 overall.
Cleary drew first blood but the Saints came firing back in quarter. At the end of the first, the Saints lead 8-2.
Trinity Reynoso scored three times and
Emma Bailey had two scores to lead AQ. The other three goals came from
Carli Taylor,
Shaylin Rings, and
Kennadie Minerich.
In the second quarter, the Saints extended their lead by scoring three goals to Cleary's two.
Alex Sullivan,
Lauren Hansen, and
Megan Moffat found the back of the net in the quarter to score their only goals of the contest. The Saints lead 11-4 at the half.
In the second half the Saints would score seven more times compared to Cleary's four. Rings, Reynoso, and Minerich each had two goals in the second half and
Naomi Plant was also able to score in the contest.
In the net, sophomore
Azariah Wells started the game for the Saints and recorded four goals against her and three saves in the first half.
Jordan Gardner was in net for the Saints in the second half and had three goals against her while recording three saves.
Sophia Schmader and Rings lead the team with ground balls on the day, each with four to contribute to the teams 26 total. The Saints also caused 10 turnovers and had 31 shots on goal.
The Saints will back in action on Saturday when they host Madonna at home. Game time is 1:00 PM.
