The women's lacrosse team entered post season play today as they went up against the Madonna Crusaders in the first round matchup of the WHAC Conference Tournament. Despite a second half scare, AQ was able to eventually put away the Crusaders and advance to their next matchup.

Aquinas rises to 12-6 on the year while Madonna finishes their season with a record of 8-6.

The first quarter saw both teams find the back of the net a total of four times.
Trinity Reynoso was able to draw first blood when she scored at 12:25 in the period. Madonna then scored in a man up scenario at 9:34, but was answered by
Kennadie Minerich a minute later.
Katelyn Hall was the next score when she struck at 5:37 being assisted by
Shaylin Rings. Madonna would score again, but Rings would have her turn of scoring when she did so at 4:34. Madonna ended the quarter with two more goals.

In the second quarter, AQ outscored Madonna 6-3. In order the goals came from
Emma Bailey,
Alex Sullivan,
Shaylin Rings,
Megan Moffat,
Cierra Davis on a Man Up goal, and
Sophia Schmader. At the end of the quarter the Saints lead 10-7.

Azariah Wells started the game for Aquinas and in her 30 minutes she saw 14 shots. Of those fourteen, she was able to save seven of them.

In the third quarter the Crusaders put together a string of goals to pressure Aquinas. They were able to put together four goals to lead 11-10 in the game. Then Aquinas came back with three goals of their own. Davis scored a man up goal followed by goals from Bailey and Moffat.

In final quarter, AQ hit the Crusaders with four goals to open it up. Goals here came from
Alex Sullivan,
Trinity Reynoso,
Alex Sullivan (UP) and Reynoso again on another man up goal. Reynoso would have another man up goal in the period as the Saints would outscore Madonna 5-4 in the quarter and win the game by a score of 18-15.

Jordan Gardner played her first post season game of her career today and recorded 4 saves and 8 goals against to secure the win.

Statistically, Madonna had the advantage in shots (32-30) and ground balls (40-22) while AQ lead in saves (11-6).

Emma Bailey and
Cierra Davis both had six points on the day followed closely by Reynoso and Rings with five.
Alexis Villarini anchored the defense when she had seven of the teams ground balls.

The Saints will be back in action on Thursday when they face off Siena Heights. The time for the game is still to be determined but it will hosted by Siena Heights.
