Saints March On During NAIA Track and Field Nationals Day 2

The men's and women's track and field were in action for day two of the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Nationals at Mickey Miller Stadium. The Saints competed in five different events today and will conclude the national competition with four events tomorrow.

In a postponement of yesterday's event due to lightning, the men's 4x800 team looked to start the day off hot for the Saints. In the third and fastest heat, the team of Will Westveer, Zander Masten, Will Finch, and Caleb Hodgkinson placed seventh with a time of 7:42. They finished 16th overall in the event and conclude their season.

Then in the women's 800, the indoor national champion Maggie Whitney returned to the event. Despite running an impressive time of 2:14, she was unable to qualify for tomorrow's final, thus ending her season.

In another event postponed from yesterday, Ben Hardy represented the Saints in the Steeplechase. He finished his season with a time of 9:49 to round out the field.

Cyrus Prudhomme was then in action in the 100 meter dash. His time of 10.95 placed him 37th in the event ending his season.

Finally in the women's 10,000 meters, Megan Gough finished her season with a time of 39:59.

Tomorrow the Saints will compete in four different events. Beginning early, Hanna Grant will represent the Saints in the half marathon. She enters the contest with the second place seed time. Then Jesse Henderson will throw on the maroon singlet once more this season when he competes in the men's pole vault. After him, the trio of Kaylee Diamond, Crystal Goyette and Casey Lenon will look to all place on the podium in the women's high jump. Diamond enters the event with the top rank. Finally, Tarshana Kimbrough will compete in the 400 meter Hurdles. She enters with the second fastest time in the preliminaries.
