#16 Saints Pick Up Third Straight Shutout Win

Aquinas topples UM-Dearborn 3-0 to keep clean sheet streak intact

Dearborn, Mich. — The No. 16-ranked Aquinas women's soccer team hasn't given up a goal in 290 consecutive minutes following a 3-0 road win Wednesday evening (Sept. 28) over UM-Dearborn. Freshman goalkeeper Kayla Shuk only was called upon to make one save to collect her fifth shutout of the season — tied for fifth-most in the NAIA.

The Saints remain perfect in WHAC play, 2-0 record with 10 goals for and zero against, while bumping their overall record to 6-2-1. UM-Dearborn dropped to 1-3-1 (0-2 WHAC).

Avery Tack put Aquinas ahead early on in the 7th minute. Her first goal of the season made her the Saints' 11th different goal scorer this season after nine games played. Laia Cunill provided the helper, increasing her team lead in assists (four) and points (10).

Aquinas' leading goal scorer from a season ago, Hannah Crum got back on the score sheet with her second goal of the year in the 50th minute. She extended her all-time women's soccer record with career goal No. 58 — now only three goals shy of tying men's soccer's and recent AQ Hall of Fame inductee Jeo Pantoja for the most goals ever scored at Aquinas.

Hannah Bowling capped the scoring at 3-0 with her second goal of the season coming on her second shot on target for the year. The efficient senior forward was assisted by Sydney Shenk.

The Saints outshot the Wolverines 12-2 (9-1 shots on target).

Aquinas puts its clean sheet streak to the test next Saturday afternoon (Oct. 1) against fellow conference unbeaten Madonna (6-3, 2-0 WHAC). The men's soccer team will play first on Saturday at noon followed by the women at 3 p.m. Fans, faculty and students are invited to participate in the first-ever Tailgate With The Saints that will take place from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. More information and how to register can be found here.
