The Aquinas women's basketball team was in action this evening after coming off a nail-biter win last week Thursday. To open the new year, the Saints traveled to Ann Arbor for a conference matchup against the Concordia Cardinals. The Cardinals handled the Saints throughout the 40 minutes of play to win the contest 67-48.

Aquinas falls to 7-8 overall with a 3-6 conference record.

The Saints got off to a slow start only able to score six points in the first quarter. Four of these points came from layups while
Jayda Smith was able to make a layup with the quarter winding down. Entering the second quarter, the Saints would score more, but not enough to keep up with the Cardinals as they were outscored 18-12. Heading into the half, AQ would find themselves down 32-18.

The Saints would continue to improve their scoring throughout the quarters as they scored 14 in the third quarter.
Delaney Bailey had the most points in the quarter with six. Entering the final quarter, the Saints found themselves down by 17 points and were unable to make the epic comeback as they were outscored 18-16.

Emily Cline led the Saints with nine points followed by
Delaney Bailey with seven.
Eliza Brown led in rebounds with four while
Brighton Miller had two assists.

The Saints will be back in action on Saturday, January 7. They will host the Cornerstone Golden Eagles at 4:00 PM in the Sturrus Sports and Fitness Center.
