West Branch, Mich. — The Aquinas men's golf team made way for West Branch, Mich., where they competed in the LTU Blue Devil Classic on Oct 9-10. Ten teams with 55 golfers competed in the event. The Classic had two days of tournament play, which utilized two different courses. Day 1 was played on The Nightmare Course, whereas Tuesday the teams played on The Dream Course. Overall, the Saints shot a 989, tying them for seventh place.
The courses has three pars of 72, making the total 216 for individual play. For team play, the par totaled to 864.
Hosts Lawrence Tech won the event with an even team score of 900. The Blue Devils were followed by Rio Grande (926) and Indiana East (933) to round out the podium. Aquinas tied with Lake Superior State for seventh after shooting rounds of 332, 322 and 335.
Senior
Matt Denhartigh shot best for the Saints and totaled 238, tying him for 16th individually.
Sophomore
Anthony Lalomia tied for 22nd with a showing of 242.
Senior
Dominic Luciani took 40th with a 254.
Freshman
Caleb Blackburn shot a 259, placing him 44th.
Sophomore
Johnny Vanderbaan closed out for the team with a 262, notching him in at 44th.
The Saints are back in action next week Monday (Oct. 16) at The Egypt Valley Golf Course. Where the team will compete in the Egypt Valley Championship hosted by Taylor. The two-day event will be AQ's last tournament for the fall season.
