Yorktown, IN – The Aquinas College and women's and men's golf teams recently took part in the three-day LTU Spring Shootout, which was a preview of the upcoming WHAC Championships.
The women placed an impressive fourth, while the men struggled to a 12th-place finish.
Women's Recap
Junior Jayda Kerns turned in the top performance for Aquinas and finished in a tie for 11th (+31).
Sophomore Ava Clark was a few strokes behind and placed in a tie for 16th after shooting a +33.
Freshman Quinn Clement (24th) and junior Zoey Quinn (29th) finished among the top 30 with a +43 and +53, respectively.
Sophomore Ellie Christian shot a +57.
Kerns had her second straight stellar tournament and fired a team-low 77 in the second round. She opened with an 83 and closed with an 87.
Clark's lowest round was on the second day as well as shot a 80 and the team overall had a +42.
Men's Recap
The Saints competed against a strong field and just couldn't find any consistency among the team as no player finished among the top 30.
Junior Austin Pitsch led the way for Aquinas as he placed 40th after a +22 total and rounds of 77, 80 and 81.
Senior Anthony Lalomia had a +24 and ended the tournament with his best round, firing a 77.
Senior McCoy Denhartigh shot a +37 and sophomore Andrew Kurowski carded a +39.
Freshman Benjamin Holloway ended at +51.
Coach's Comments
Head Coach Matt DenHartigh: "This week was a great learning experience for both teams. The course we played is where the WHAC Championships will be held so it was good to get a sneak peak of the course for when it really matters."

The Saints will compete Friday and Saturday at the Pilot Invitational, held at Blackthorn Golf Club in South Bend, Ind.
