Farmington Hills, Mich. — The Aquinas women's ice hockey team traveled to Farmington Hills to take on the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils on Saturday (Dec. 2). The Blue Devils scored twice early and held the Saints back for majority of the contest. AQ faltered to LTU, 3-1.
The first period started quickly as LTU found the back of the net twice within the first five minutes of the contest. Aquinas managed to hold the Blue Devils back for the rest of the period, no further goals were scored.
The second period only saw one goal, that being from Lawrence Tech with 7:02 remaining in the period. The rest of the period went silent on the scoreboard.
The Saints did find the back of the net with 1:01 remaining in the third, as
Lauryn Wood struck one in with an assist by
Kate Kramm. AQ managed to tally a score but unable to stack any further goals in the remaining minute of the game.
LTU takes the win 3-1.
Aquinas had 29 shots overall, while LTU had 36.
The ladies are back in action on Friday (Jan 12) at 7:40 p.m. at Southside Ice Arena as they host Indiana Tech for a conference match up.
