Dearborn, Mich. — On Saturday (Dec. 2) the Aquinas women's ice hockey team traveled to Dearborn, Mich. to take on the #10 UM-Dearborn Wolverines for the second time within their two game series. The previous night (Dec. 1) the Saints lost 8-2, but AQ entered the ice hoping to put up a better showing against this top-ten national contender.
The Wolverines were refreshed to play on home ice and it showed. UMD put up four goals in the first period, two of the goals were power plays.
Dearborn continued their prowess as they went on to score four more times in the second period, once again claiming two points from power plays.
The Wolverines still had life in the third period as they tallied three additional goals, leaving the result of the game to be 11-0.
Unfortunately, the Saints couldn't find the back of the net against the Wolverine defense, as AQ was held to just 10 shots. UM-Dearborn had a total of 50 shots. Aquinas had power play opportunities throughout the game but just couldn't connect on the ice.
AQ is back in action Saturday (Dec. 8) at Lawrence Tech with an 8 p.m. puck drop.
