Women's Lacrosse Falls to No. 6 Cumberlands, 19-7

Williamsburg, Kentucky - The women's lacrosse team began their Kentucky road trip this afternoon in a battle against another NAIA Top-10 ranked opponent, No. 6 Cumberlands. Despite leading the Patriots by two, twice in the contest, the Saints would fall by a score of 19-7. They now stand 1-1 on the year.

AQ would strike first in the contest with Trinity Reynoso netting the goal at 10:31 on an assist from Cierra Davis. Only 21 seconds later, AQ would find themselves up by two when Kennadie Minerich would score for her sixth goal of the season. The two teams would go back and forth for roughly five minutes with Niya Couch scoring on a Man-Down opportunity. Cumberlands would answer that with a goal on a Man-Up/Free Position Shot. AQ would then score on another Man-Down goal at 4:48, with Reynoso tallying her second goal of the game. In the final two minutes of the quarter, the Patriots would go on a 4-0 run to enter the second up 6-4.

The flood gates would open in second period of play with the Patriots scoring six goals to AQ's zero. AQ would look to mount an epic comeback after the half being down 12-4.

Unfortunately, Cumberlands kept their foot on the gas in the third quarter with five more goals, as AQ couldn't find the back of the net. In the fourth quarter alone, Kennadie Minerich would score three goals at 12:05, 10:20, and 8:46 but the deficit was too large for the Saints to overcome as they fell by a score of 19-7.

In goal, Azariah Wells and Kennedy Stilson would each play thirty minutes. Wells would save 7 shots and have 12 goal against her while Stilson would have two saves and seven goals against her.

AQ will look to get back on the right track on Monday, March 13 when they face-off against receiving votes Georgetown. The Saints hit the field at 1:00 PM in Georgetown, Kentucky.
