Grand Rapids, MI - The men's lacrosse team hosted the Spartans of Missouri Baptist on a snowy afternoon at the AQ Athletic Field and at the conclusion of the game, the Saints walked away with the 21-1 Victory. AQ improves their record to 2-2 this year, with both wins coming by margins of over 20 points.
AQ would set the tone early in the game with
Brady Waling netting AQ's first at 14:06 off an assist from
Kevin LaHaie. Just over a minute later
Dean Cooper would score to put the Saints up two. This assist came from
Jon Jardis as this would be a common occurrence throughout the game. Only thirteen seconds later, AQ would score their next goal when
Jack Rioux scored unassisted.
Lou Nageotte would score unassisted before there was short break in the goals. AQ would find the back of the net three more times in the quarter, with those coming from
Tim Shacklette, and Cooper (2). Two of the goals would be assisted by Jardis, with the other by
Mitch Haggart.
The Saints would score four times in the second period, with Jardis having a role in all four of them. The goals would come from Cooper, LaHaie, Jardis, and Haggart on a Man-Up opportunity. Jardis would assist on his three teammates goals while scoring unassisted. AQ entered the half leading 11-0.
The Saints would have seven goals in a quarter again, with six Saiints scoring. Two would come from Cooper, while one happened on a man up opportunity. Others came from
Nico Kittredge, LaHaie, Rolands, Haggart, and Waling.
AQ would finish the final quarter with three scores to the Spartans' one. Rolands would score twice while
Erik Dosch would score his first goal of the season to wrap up today's contest.
AQ saw three Saints in net, with
Clayton Boerigter playing the first half for the Saints. He only faced one shot which he was able to save.
Ricky Vega took over in the third and didn't face any shots before
Austin Hynote played the fourth having one goal against him.
Dean Cooper lead all scorers with six goals while
Alex Rolands was also able to notch a hat trick.
Jon Jardis would tally eight assists and one goal to lead the Saints with nine points and contributing four ground balls. LaHaie and
Chase Haggerty lead in ground balls with five each. Nageotte would pester the offense, causing three turnovers.
AQ returns to action on Thursday, March 16 when they face off against No. 8 Tennessee Wesleyan. The Saints will travel down to Athens, Tennessee for the 3:00 PM start.
