Women's Lacrosse Completes Comeback Upset Against No. 9 Indiana Tech

Grand Rapids, MI - The women's lacrosse team returned to Grand Rapids for their first conference matchup of the 2023 season when they hosted the Indiana Tech Warriors. After going down by as many as four goals, the Saints were able to come back and upset the number nine ranked Warriors by a score of 14-12. AQ sits 4-1 this season, and now have a 1-0 conference record.

AQ would surprise the Warriors with the first goal of the game scoring a goal at 13:57 of the first quarter. The goal came from Cierra Davis after getting the pass from Kennadie Minerich. The Warriors would reply quickly after Da'Zah Regusters would take the ball from the draw control and race to an unassisted goal at 13:43. Four more Tech goals would come from 7:16-2:24 to put the Warriors up 5-1. Minerich would score with 54 seconds left to end the quarter behind 5-2.

The Warriors scored once again to start the quarter, before AQ would begin their incredible comeback. The first goal would come from Minerich at 11:38 for her second of the day. Only twelve seconds later after the draw control, Davis would race to the Warriors goal and cut the deficit to two. Minerich would then earn her hat trick with a goal at 8:27 to bring AQ within one. Niya Couch would tie the game at 3:52 thanks to an assist for Davis. Davis would then earn herself a hat trick on a free position goal to give the Saints the 7-6 lead at 1:10. The two teams would head to the half with Aquinas leading.

Regusters would race to the Saints goal again to start the third quarter and score at 14:46 to even up the contest. Sophia Schmader would score her first goal of the season at 12:44 after being assisted by Trinity Reynoso. Tech would once again respond quickly with a goal at 12:35 to even it up.
