Men's Lacrosse Outduels Lourdes 10-7 On A Brisk Saturday

Grand Rapids, Michigan - The men's lacrosse team began conference play this afternoon when they welcomed the 5-0 Lourdes Gray Wolves to the AQ Athletic Field. On the chilly afternoon, the two team played a gritty sixty minutes of lacrosse but the seventh ranked AQ Saints came out with the 10-7 Victory. AQ now has a 1-0 conference record and a 4-3 overall record.
 
Kevin LaHaie netted the first goal in today's contest firing a shot at 9:35 to give the Saints the early lead. He scored unassisted. Lourdes would then answer on a man up goal at 4:07 as the two teams headed to the second tied at one a piece.
 
AQ started to find their momentum in the second period when they outscored the Gray Wolves 3-1. The first goal came from Jon Jardis on an assist from LaHaie at 11:56. Roughly 40 seconds later Brady Waling would give AQ another goal after getting the pass from Alex Rolands in traffic. Rolands would then score on his next shot when he was assisted by Jon Jardis. The Wolves would score once before the half with AQ leading 4-2.
 
AQ would draw first blood in the second half with Mitch Haggart scoring unassisted at 12:24 on a man up opportunity. Lourdes would then score one goal, but Jon Jardis would answer with two goals at 5:56 and 3:44. Both highlight reel assists would come from Haggart.
 
Lourdes would be able to outscore AQ in the final quarter 4-3 with a later string of goals, but the deficit was too large for the Gray Wolves to comeback. AQ's three goal scorers would come from the attacking trio of Zachary Sweet, Haggart, and Jardis.
 
In goal, Clayton Boerigter faced 31 shots and was able to stop 24 of them. Boerigter had several incredible saves in tonight's contest. Jon Jardis would lead in goals and points with four and five. Haggart and LaHaie would each notch two assists today, with Haggart leading the way in ground balls, tallying four. Jack Rioux would have three caused turnovers while Cooper Croskey would have two.
 
AQ returns to action Saturday, April 1 when they travel to Dearborn, Michigan for a contest against the UM-Dearborn Wolverines. Competition begins at 2:00 PM
