Haggart's Six Goals Power Men's Lacrosse Past UM-Dearborn

Dearborn, Michigan - In the second conference game of 2023 for head coach Chris Klaiber and the men's lacrosse team, the Saints traveled to Dearborn, Michigan for a matchup against the Wolverines. The Saints walked away with the 12-3 victory behind six goals from Mitch Haggart.
 
Aquinas improves to 5-3 overall this season with a 2-0 conference record, while UM-Dearborn falls to 4-6 overall and 0-3 in conference.
 
Zachary Sweet had the Saints first goal at 11:23 on an assist from Jon Jardis. The two teams went back and forth the rest of the period as AQ headed to the second with the 1-0 lead.
 
Mitch Haggart then netted his first of many this afternoon when he scored on Alex Rollands assist. He would score again with this goals assist going to Nico Kittredge. One more goal for the Saints in this quarter came from Brady Waling at 6:11 with the assist going to Haggart. The Saints would head to the half up 4-0.
 
Kevin LaHaie opened the Saints highest scoring quarter with a goal at 13:31. The Wolverines would sneak in their first goal at 9:10, but this would be answered by four AQ goals. Three of these goals would come from Mitch Haggart and the remaining goal would go to Brady Waling. Jardis would be credited with all the assists. UM-Dearborn would score one more time before the quarter ended at 2:07 on a man-up opportunity.
 
In the fourth AQ scored three times to their opponents one. Haggart had one more goal at 7:51 before Waling had a man-up goal on a pass from Dean Cooper. Alex Rolands would score one more time to give the Saints the 12-3 victory.
 
In goal Clayton Boerigter played most of the game recording 11 saves and three goals against him. Ricky Vega entered for a short time recording one save. Haggart finished the contest with eight points due to his double hat trick.
 
AQ will have one more contest on the road, before returning to the AQ Athletic Field. This next contest takes place on Wednesday, April 5, when the Saints travel to Ann Arbor to take on the No. 10 Concordia Cardinals. The game takes place at 1:00 PM.
