Women's Lacrosse Improves To 3-0 in WHAC Play After Besting Lourdes

Grand Rapids, Michigan - In the first game on the AQ Athletic Field today, the woman's lacrosse team welcomed the Lourdes Gray Wolves for their third conference matchup this season. The Wolves would surprise the Saints in the first quarter, but the Saints would eventually walk away with the victory as they scored 20 or more points for the fourth time in five games.

 
AQ sits 6-1 this season with a perfect conference record of 3-0.
 
The Wolves would surprise the Saints coming out of the opening draw control with a goal at 14:18 to go up one on AQ. Shaylin Rings would be the first Saint to score when she did so at 11:40. AQ would then take the lead when Brianna Trepins scored at 7:30 on an assist from Kennadie Minerich. Momentum would swing back in favor of Lourdes when they netted two goals at 5:36 and 4:17 to go up 3-2. In the final four minutes of the period, AQ was able to score four times. Cierra Davis would score her first two goals of the day on her quest to 100 career goals at 3:38 and 1:52 while Trinity Reynoso would score twice at 1:23 and :08 with the second on a pass from Davis.
 
In the second, Reynoso would beat out her other teammates, as she was the first to score a hat trick in today's contest. Her goal came at 13:53. Davis was closely behind though with her third at 13:24. Davis would need two more goals to hit the 100-career goal mark. The Gray Wolves would score for the final time today on a man up opportunity at 9:13. Minerich decided to get in on the scoring party then, netting AQ's last three goals of the half to give the Saints the 11-4 lead heading into halftime.
 
AQ would have their quietest quarter of the game in the third, but it would still be noteworthy. AQ's first goal would come at 14:32 from Rings. Then Cierra Davis would score at 12:39 before scoring once again at 10:53 to notch her 100th career goal. This goal came on an assist from Stella Bottum.
 
AQ would ice the game in the final quarter with seven goals from six Saints. Those goals would come from Rings, Sophia Schmader, Minerich, Niya Couch (2), Lauren Hansen on a man down opportunity, and Reynoso.
 
Kennedy Stilson played all 60 minutes in goal, with four goals against her and four saves. Cierra Davis would have five goals and three assists today, while Kennadie Minerich would have four goals and five assists. Reynoso (4) and Rings (3) would also net hat tricks. Reynoso led in ground balls with seven, while Carli Taylor had six caused turnovers.
 
AQ is on the road for their next conference matchup against the Marian Knights. The game takes place on Wednesday, March 29 at 7:00 PM
