Indianapolis, Indiana - On the same day that the Aquinas Women's Lacrosse Team ranked 10th in latest edition of the NAIA Poll, they headed to Indianapolis, Indiana for a game against the Marian Knights. After being tied at 10 at the end of the first half, the Saints were able to best the Knights 16-14.

The Saints now sit 7-1 in 2023 with a 4-0 conference record.

Marian's Madeline Dumke struck first this evening with a goal at 13:28. AQ fought back at 11:15 with a goal from
Shaylin Rings on a free position shot. The Knights went on a run from here scoring four goals in four minutes to hold a 5-1 lead over the Saints.
Trinity Reynoso snapped the scoring drought at 6:34 on an assist from
Kennadie Minerich. After another Marian goal, at 5:56, AQ began to return fire at 4:32 with a free position shot and goal from
Cierra Davis. Minerich then netted her first goal of the day at 2:24 on a man down opportunity. Right before the end of the quarter,
Stella Bottum hit a free position goal with five seconds left in the quarter. AQ entered the second quarter down 6-5

In the second, AQ outscored the Knights 5-4. After an initial Marian goal, AQ's first goal would come
Stella Bottum on a free position shot. AQ then tied the game at 12:55 with another free position goal from
Alex Sullivan. The Knights scored three time in a row before AQ could find an answer. The Saints were able to handle this adversity though, scoring three times in the last two and a half minutes. These goals came from Bottum,
Niya Couch, and Reynoso to send the two teams into the half tied 10-10.

The Saints began to roll after the ten-minute halftime, holding Marian to zero goals while scoring five of their own. Bottum scored her fourth goal of the game to begin the Saints scoring bonanza at 11:55. Davis had the next goal for AQ at 5:54 on a man-up opportunity before
Alex Sullivan scored at 3:18. The Saints then had two more goals from
McKenna Burke (2:31) and Bottum (1:45) as they took a 15-10 lead into the fourth.

In the fourth quarter, the Knights would outscore the Saints 4-1 but it was too little too late as the Saints third quarter set them up for success. The Saints lone goal came from
Cierra Davis at 11:37.

Azariah Wells played all 60 minutes for AQ recording 12 Saves with 14 goals against her.

Bottum lead the team in goals with five, while Minerich and Couch each dished out two assists. Bottum and
Alexis Villarini had three ground balls, while Villarini had four caused turnovers.

The Saints continue their string of away games this weekend when they go up against the Rochester Warriors. Game time is set for 1:00 PM in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
