Opelika, Ala. – The Aquinas men's golf team kicked off its spring season today (Mar. 8) at the LTU Spring Break Invitational. With a team score of 345 (+57), Aquinas finished the first of the three-day competition in ninth place. Midway University is leading the field after the first round after posting an impressive 297 (+9).
Trailing Midway is Campbellsville (+18), Lawrence Tech (+19), Lawrence Tech's B Team (+23), and Siena Heights (+32).
Dominic Luciani was the best golfer for Aquinas at RTJ Golf Trail today with an 81 (+9). His nine-over-par score landed him tied for 28th on the leaderboard.
Matt Denhartigh finished the round tied for 38th after posting a score of 87 (+15).
Kolton Stadt finished just behind Denhartigh with a score of 88 (+16), placing Stadt tied for 40th on the leaderboard.
Harrison Chipman ended the day tied for 44th after shooting an 89 (+17).
Anthony Lalomia rounded out the Aquinas starting five with a 55th-place finish after scooting 23-over-par (95).
Aidan Raffaele competed for the Saints as an individual and shot a 98 (+26) on the course. That result placed Raffaele in 58th place individually.
Aquinas returns to action tomorrow (Mar. 9) to compete in the second round of the LTU Spring Break Invitational.
