Box Score Ann Arbor, Michigan - The men's lacrosse team was on the road this afternoon when they traveled to Ann Arbor, for a matchup against the fourth ranked Concordia Cardinals. The Saints first half forecasted trouble as the Saints fell by a score of 11-7. The Saints now have a record of 5-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
The Saints struggled in the first half only recording one goal to the Cardinals' six. Concordia scored three goals in the first and three in the second before AQ netted their only goal of the half. The goal came from
Dean Cooper at 3:22 on a man-up opportunity. Cooper's goal was assisted by
Jon Jardis.
The Saints would have their best quarter in third, scoring five goals to the Cardinals three. AQ started hot with Haggart netting the first goal at 14:08. Roughly 40 seconds later, the Saints struck again with a goal from
Jack Rioux. After assisting Rioux on his goal,
Zachary Sweet scored one of his own at 10:19. This assist came from Haggart. The teams would go back and forth on goals for the rest of the quarter, with both AQ goals coming from
Dean Cooper. AQ would look to complete an epic comeback entering the fourth down 9-6.
Unfortunately, the Cardinals kept their foot on the gas with two more goals to the Saints one to put AQ away. Scoring for Aquinas was Haggart at 4:37 to bring the Saints within four, but it was not enough as AQ fell 11-7.
In 57 minutes,
Clayton Boerigter had a save percentage of 63.3% recording 19 saves and 11 goals against him.
Ricky Vega would finish out the game for AQ
Dean Cooper would lead on goals with three, while Sweet and Jardis would both have two assists.
Kevin LaHaie and
Noah Szarejko would each record four ground balls.
