Allendale, Michigan - Today, the men's and track and field team competed at the Grand Valley hosted Al Owens Classic. AQ earned two qualifiers in the local meet, one of which made it on AQ's all time top five list.

The top five mark came from
Jesunifemi Ojutalayo in the long jump. While winning the event, Ojutalayo jumped .1 meters over A standard to automatically qualifiy for nationals with his distance of 7.35 meters. (24-01) He also ranks third in program history now in the event. He leaps past Alvaro Romero, Henry Holmes, and Derek Sandahl. He sits behind only Joe Applewhite's mark of 24-11 and De-Al-Jo Roberts' 24-6.25. He would also go on to win the triple jump with a jump of 14.14 meters.

The second qualifier came from
Connor Callahan. Callahan ran 9:26.31 in the steeplechase to secure a provisional qualifier. He took fifth in the event and slightly in front of him was
Ben Hardy who's earned a qualifier this year already. Callahan returned in the 5K running 15:16.

John Van Til competed in the Invite section of the men's shot put and finished fifth overall. He did so behind a new personal record of 13.63 meters. Then in the unseeded section,
Thomas Bearden and
Ethan Morgan took second and third. Bearden threw 12.83 meters while Morgan had a best throw of 12.58 meters. Van Til came back in the discus and took fourth with a throw of 45.26 meters.

In the 100 Dash,
Nate White continues to lead the Saints in the short sprint. He took fourth overall, running 10.90 seconds.

Next,
Will Finch was the highest finisher for AQ in the 1500 Meter Run. He placed seventh in three minutes and 55 seconds.

In the final event of the day, AQ took home the 4x400 crown behind a winning time of 3:19. The team consisted of
Jacob Tenbusch,
Jake Van Tassell,
Cyrus Prudhomme, and
Caleb Hodgkinson.

AQ returns to another local meet next weekend on Friday, April 28. That being the Davenport Tune-Up in Grand Rapids, Michigan that takes place throughout the day.
