The men's track and field team competed at two meets in West Michigan on Saturday April 29. First the men's team competed throughout the day at the Davenport Tune-up placing on the podium in multiple events. Then in the evening, the Saints competed at the GVSU Extra Weekend Meet earning multiple personal bests. AQ would walk away with two provisional qualifiers and three all-time top five marks.

The first highlight of the day came from the 110 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles with
Jake Van Tassell representing AQ well. First in the 110 Hurdles, Van Tassell captured the event title running 14.80. He would also earn a provisional qualifier with this time. On top of that, he now ranks second in AQ history.
Isaiah Jackson holds the school record at 14.77 after setting the school record last year. Van Tassell then took second place in the 400 Hurdles running 54.35. He sits fourth in Aquinas history.

In the regular 400 Meter dash,
Jacob Tenbusch finished first for AQ taking third at 50.16,
Cyrus Prudhomme was next in the event for AQ, when placing tenth. He ran 51.23.
Nate White continued his dominance in the short sprint of 100 Meters. He took second place with a 10.82, nearly a personal best.

In the field events, the Saints highest finisher was
John Van Til. Van Til threw the discus 46.35 meters to take second.

GVSU Extra-Weekend Meet

An All-Time AQ mark happened in the 1500-meter race by
Ben Hardy. He took 16th running 3:54. This new personal best places him third in Aquinas history while also achieving a provisional qualifier. He was joined by
Rob Lohr (3:59) and
Connor Clemens (4:12) in the event.

The Saint heavy 5K had four out five athletes record personal records.
Ethan Barker finished first for AQ at 14:58.
Edward Frey (15:13),
Andrew Ireland (15:19), and
Jonah Maichele (15:35) all bested their previous record.
Connor Callahan also competed in the event running 15:24.

Finally, the 800 saw four Saints in the event.
Caleb Hodgkinson ran 1:53 to be the Saints top finisher.
Will Finch was closely behind at 1:54, while
Will Westveer and
Liam Kelly also appeared in the event.

AQ returns to action next weekend with the WHAC Championships. The two day meet begins on Thursday, May 4 and takes places in Adrian, Michigan.
