Livonia, Mich. — The No. 4-ranked Aquinas women's soccer team picked up its eighth straight win with a 1-0 road victory at Madonna on Saturday (Sept. 30).
The Saints (8-0-1, 3-0 WHAC) brushed off a slow first half to secure a conference win over Madonna (5-4-1, 2-1 WHAC). AQ has now won four straight against the Crusaders.
Both teams struggled to get going in the first 45 minutes with five total shots (three AQ, two MU).
After a scoreless first half, Aquinas found the breakthrough in the 53rd minute.
Sandra Segovia scored unassisted. She has now scored in three straight games.
Segovia scored once during her freshman season, twice in her sophomore campaign and now has three in her third season with the Saints.
Aquinas outshot Madonna 10-1 in the second half to end the game with a 13-3 (6-2 on target) shots advantage.
